October 23, (THEWILL) – President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Dr Daniel Igali, has applauded the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association, Mr Ama-ebi Ebikpolade Stow, for his contributions towards the development of sports in Bayelsa State, describing him as a perfect definition of a round peg in a round hole.

Speaking ahead of the 3rd Gov. Douye Diri Wrestling Classics in Yenagoa, slated for 3rd through the 10th of November, 2024, Dr Igali said that Mr Ama-ebi’s passion and unwavering commitment to the development of sports in the state is highly commendable and speaks volumes of what individuals can do to impact the sports industry.

Dr Igali, who doubles as the Commissioner for Sports Development in Bayelsa, noted that Mr Ama-ebi’s gesture towards the Wrestling Federation was indicative of the Table Tennis Association’s helmsman’s uncommon interest in changing the narrative of youth development through sports.

According to him, the Wrestling Federation and the Ministry of Sports Development are pleased with Mr Ama-ebi Stow’s show of solidarity to the Wrestling Federation.

He commended the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association Boss for investing in the youths as well as ensuring that they combine their education with sports, noting that the success attained by the association is a reflection of the hard work put in and the promising future of table tennis in the state.

The Wrestling Federation President showed the Federation’s appreciation by honouring the table tennis boss and philanthropist, Mr Ama-ebi Stow with a special prize for “New Discovery Of The Tournament” named after him in the 3rd Gov Douye Diri Wrestling Classics.

Also, the Consultant to the Nigeria Wrestling Federation and Director General Prosperity Cup, Mr Ono Akpe, called on the multinational oil companies operating in the State and other well-meaning Bayelsans to emulate Mr Stow by getting involved in the development of sports, saying that the state government cannot do it alone.

He noted that the Gov Douye Diri Wrestling Classics is open for more sponsorship and that the only way sports can thrive in the state is for the organised private sector to see sports as part of their corporate social responsibility.

The 3rd Gov Douye Diri Wrestling Classics promises to have fireworks from the contesting wrestlers with over 50 teams across the country participating.
