BEVERLY HILLS, September 18, (THEWILL) – Former military dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida has said he is undecided over support for the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
THEWILL recalls that Babangida, who is popularly called IBB, had advised Buhari against seeking reelection citing poor leadership.
However, a former Governor of Abia State, businessman and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Orji Kalu, who paid him a visit at his Minna residence Tuesday, said IBB agreed to think about backing Buhari.
“I am in Minna to campaign for President Muhammadu Buhari. At the meeting with Babangida, I pleaded with him to support Buhari’s re-election bid.
“He has told me that he will think about it. To me, that is a positive response,’’ Kalu said, after the two-hour meeting.
The former governor said he would continue to campaign for Buhari.
“Buhari is doing well. He has achieved a lot for us. He is already taking Nigeria back to our glorious days,” he said, identifying the massive investments in the railways and improved road network as some of the major achievements of the administration.
