BEVERLY HILLS, December 20, (THEWILL) – ‘Nigerian Queen’, Chikaodili Nna-Udosen, has narrated how she competed in five pageants before she eventually won the ‘Nigerian Queen’ beauty pageant recently.
The model disclosed this on Sunday during an interview with The Punch as she disclosed that she was shocked to be announced the winner in the just concluded ‘Nigerian Queen’beauty pageant.
She said: “As much as I knew I had worked hard enough to deserve the crown, it still felt unbelievable and surreal when the host, Bovi, announced me as the winner. If I am to borrow a few words from Fireboy DML, I would say that, ‘Laughter, tears and goosebumps’ best describe how I felt at that particular moment.”
Speaking on why she contested for the pageant, Udosen said: “I entered this pageant so I could justify the self-assertion that I could compete at the highest level and still be productive. Before winning this particular pageant, I had contested in five different pageants. I could easily have given up but I am happy I didn’t. I believe this is my time.”
Reacting to the claim that beauty queens are not usually intellectual, Udosen, who graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, said: “I vehemently disagree with the notion that beauty queens are just beautiful and not intellectually sound. For the ‘Nigerian Queen’, the motto is ‘Beauty with a Purpose’. Beauty is one of the characteristics required but it goes beyond that. This is because more important than a crown on a queen’s head is a crown on her heart.”
