SAN FRANCISCO, November 09, (THEWILL) – Hillary Clinton, candidate of the Democratic Party in the US presidential election, has appealed to her supporters to accept the result of the Presidential elections urging them to cooperate with Donald Trump “who would be our president.”
Delivering her concession speech at a hotel in New York, she admitted that losing the election was painful, adding that though her dream of being the first female president of the US did not materialise, a woman would lead the country someday.
She insisted that she was proud to be the champion of so many people and advised young people not to allow obstacles hinder them from pursuing their dreams.
“To all the women who put their faith in this campaign and me, I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion,” she said.
“This is not the outcome we wanted or the one we worked for. This is painful, and it will be for a long time. But I want you to remember this. Our campaign was never about one person, it was about building a country that we love.
“And to all the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and deserving of every chance to pursue your own dreams.
“I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but I know someday, someone will, and hopefully sooner than we might think right now.
“We must accept this result. Donald Trump is going to be our president, we owe him an open mind and a chance to lead.”
She expressed gratitude to President Barack Obama, Michelle, his wife, and all those who have stood by her and showered encomiums on her staff, some of who could not fight back tears.
She was supported on the podium by her husband, Bill, her only daughter, Chelsea, and Tim Kaine, her running mate.
