September 13, (THEWILL) – Eddie Hearn, promoter for heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, has revealed that the fighter is not considering retirement in the near future. Despite previous statements about hanging up his gloves at 35, Joshua, who turns 35 next month, appears to have shifted his timeline.

Joshua is preparing for a high-stakes bout against fellow British boxer, Daniel Dubois, at Wembley Stadium. This fight could potentially make Joshua a three-time world heavyweight champion. It will mark his 32nd professional match in a career spanning over a decade.

Hearn noted that Joshua is currently enjoying boxing more than ever, having found a good rhythm with his current training team led by Ben Davison. The promoter suggested that while people might have expected Joshua to have only 3-5 fights left after his losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022, they are now looking at about five more fights.

In an earlier 2024 television appearance, Joshua himself mentioned possibly continuing for another two years, depending on his physical condition. He also spoke about having set up businesses to transition into after his boxing career, indicating forward-thinking beyond the ring.

The news suggests a shift in Joshua’s career plans. While he once aimed to retire around 35, it seems he is now open to extending his time in professional boxing, possibly into his late 30s. This development could significantly impact the heavyweight division in the coming years.
