August 03, (THEWILL) – The kerfuffle surrounding the transfer situation of Tottenham Hotspur’s pinpoint striker Harry Kane has taken on a new dimension as the striker has not shown up for training together with the rest of his teammates as scheduled.

For the second consecutive day, the 28-year-old has been a no-show at the training ground at the Tottenham Stadium even with the threat of disciplinary actions that can be implemented against him for the willing absenteeism.

Originally, Kane was due to return to Hotspur Way on Monday following a short holiday, in the aftermath of England’s participation in the continental competition, the Euro 2020 from last month. Resumptions were mandated despite the upbeat in the speculations around his future and around his response from Spurs.

After Monday passed with no signs of Kane around the squad’s pre-season training, tongues were set wagging again about why this was so. By Tuesday morning, there were still no signs of Tottenham’s best striker around the training facility.

Though the club noted that they were “disappointed” with Kane’s actions and have made a decision to apply the fines that exist in the contract, they are aware that the England captain plans to return this weekend according to information coming from within the north London club.

Kane has not hidden his determination to move on a transfer out of Spurs this summer. Already, he has attracted long-term interests from the Manchester clubs of City and United while Chelsea is following the build up from their corner of London. Just before July, Pep Guardiola’s City made a £100m bid for the winner of last season’s Premier League Golden Boot.

Currently, the England Football team captain is valued at upwards of £120m and Tottenham are keen to keep him despite the striker believing he has a gentleman’s agreement with Daniel Levy to move when the time comes, as Kane now believes it has.

The absenteeism from training might be the player’s way of remaining in the news cycle to keep his quest to move from Spurs in the north London area to a club where he can experience the joy of winning titles and trophies, a thing the 28-year-old is yet to enjoy in his professional career at club level.

However, it might rub off the wrong way on some of the other squad members who also had a lengthy and stormy Euro 2020 campaign but have returned to the fold. His actions will end up looking to be in bad taste, which may not be taken kindly by his team-mates at Spurs.

Also, it might drive a wedge between club President Daniel Levy and Kane after the years of camaraderie they have shared and the level of understanding Levy has for Kane’s plight so far. In June, Levy admitted to sympathising with Kane’s frustrations about the lack of silverware at Spurs, but hinted a deal could be difficult to do.
