July 20, (THEWILL) – A third class chief of Chanchanji Village in Takum local government Area of Taraba State, Alhaji Tanimu Kunbiya, has been killed.
Alhaji Kunbiya and his son, Yusuf, were killed by gunmen on Friday evening, along the Takum-Chanchanji road on his way back from a burial ceremony.
Spokesperson of State Police Command, Gambo Kwache, confirmed the incident.
“We received information that the third class chief of Chanchanji and his son were assassinated in an ambush at Jakudi village”, Kwache said; armed policemen and security agencies had been dispatched to the area.
Meanwhile, President General of the Tiv Cultural and Social Association, Chief James Baka, has called for immediate arrest of the culprits.
