Gunmen Kidnap Medical Students In Benue

August 16, (THEWILL) – At least 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, have been abducted by gunmen in Benue State.

The students, from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were on their way to attend the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) in Enugu.

The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident, said the students were intercepted on Thursday by gunmen at about 5:30 pm in the Otukpo area of Benue State.

“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing”, he said.
