June 17, (THEWILL) – The Golden State Warriors have won the NBA Finals for the fourth time in the last eight years, defeating the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 of the series at TD Garden on Thursday night.

The Warriors grabbed control of the game after initially falling behind 14-2, courtesy to a 30-8 run that lasted from the end of the first quarter to the start of the second. The Celtics were able to cut the lead to single digits in the fourth, but Stephen Curry and the Warriors seemed to have an answer for every inroad Boston made down the line.

Curry, once again, led the way for GSW on the offensive end. He had a team-high 34 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in the series-clinching triumph, adding another chapter to his already illustrious career. He got support as Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson all scored in double figures as well.

The Celtics were led by Jaylen Brown, who had 34 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, but it was not enough to extend the Finals to one more game as Ime Udoka’s team could not stop the Warriors extending their dynasty.

Curry was announced as the unanimous recipient of the Bill Russell Finals MVP award, which came as no surprise with how dominant he was over the course of the six-game series. His 43-point performance in Game 4 helped GSW even up the series 2-2 because of every basket he made. If not, the Warriors would have been down 3-1. He thoroughly deserves the first Finals MVP of his career.
