BEVERLY HILLS, April 21, (THEWILL) –Â The Kaduna State Government has confirmed the death of one person from the attack on the private university in Kaduna on Tuesday night.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, during the visit to the school disclosed that the victim was a worker of the institution.
THEWILL reports that gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted some students during an attack on Green Field University, in Kaduna state on Tuesday night. The institution, is located along the Kaduna–Abuka Highway in Chikun Local Government Area of the State.
Briefing journalists, the Commissioner said, on “Tuesday 20th of April 2021, at 8:30 pm, we received a distress call that armed bandits were attacking Greenfield University, troops and other security agencies were immediately deployed to the institution
“The troops did not come in contact with the bandits because they escaped, unfortunately, a staff of the university was killed by the bandits.
“Furthermore, an unspecified number of students were kidnapped, as we speak we are still working around the general area so that we can get the actual figure. We will keep you informed on other developments.”
Aruwan assured residents that the military and security agencies were working round the clock for their release.
Meanwhile, the Police Command in the State has also confirmed the attack.
The Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, said some of the students were abducted.
He said security operatives had been deployed to the general area for search and rescue operation.
