Yusuf, who contested on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), described the tribunal’s verdict as “unfair” and “a miscarriage of justice”.

He vowed to appeal the judgement, and urged his supporters to remain calm and continue to be law abiding.

“I call on our people to remain calm. We will appeal the judgement and we are sure justice will be done.

“Let me assure you that this government will continue to work for the development of the people of the state as the judgement will never dampen our spirit or discourage us from the good work we have started,” he said.

The Governor, who thanked the people of the state for their continued support and cooperation, also urged them to go about with their normal activities.

THEWILL recalls that the State Police Command had few hours
after the Tribunal judgement imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state to maintain law and order.

The command said the curfew took effect from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20 to 6 p.m. of Thursday, September 21, warning that violators of the order would “be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.”

It was observed that so far,the people of the state have complied with the curfew order, with many of them remaining indoors, while others restrict their movements to the neighborhoods.
