June 22, (THEWILL) – Benue State Governor, Revd. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has attributed his modest achievements in office in the last one year to the support and cooperation he received from President Bola Tinubu.
Governor Alia stated this while addressing the mammoth crowd that thronged the IBB Square in Makurdi on Friday, during his thank-you tour of Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency.
He noted that the construction of roads, underpasses, payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, and remodelling of the Assembly Complex and the State Civil Service Secretariat were made possible because of the support of the President.
“President Tinubu has given me unimaginable support which has taken Benue State to where it is today. I, therefore, urge Benue people to be patient with Mr. President who has good intentions for the citizens,” he said.
While promising to renovate and upgrade the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Square in Makurdi to international standard, the Governor described the facilities at the over 30-year-old Square as outdated.
The Governor, who listed the construction of 16 township roads within the Makurdi metropolis and the ongoing construction of the underpass in Makurdi and Gboko, assured the people of Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency that more road contracts would be awarded for construction within the constituency in no distance time.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Benue APC Elders Forum, Engr. Barnabas Gemade, described Governor Alia’s election as the divine work of God which no human being can stop.
The elder statesman scored Governor Alia high in the area of employment and regular payment of salaries which the previous governors failed to pay with a smaller workforce.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Yanmar Ortese, commended the Governor for the infrastructures recorded within the federal constituency, assuring that all appointees from the constituency will continue to support the administration to succeed.
The Acting State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Benjamin Omakolo, who received defectors into the APC, assured them of equal treatment.
He called on Benue people to rally round the Alia administration to put Benue State on the greater map of development.
