October 16, (THEWILL) – Benue state governor, Revd Fr Hyacinth Alia, has praised President Bola Tinubu for the consistent donation of palliatives to the vulnerable people of the state.

Speaking at the second phase of the distribution of 23, 200 bags of rice and 24,000 bags of maize at the IBB Square, Makurdi on Wednesday, Governor Alia noted that the gesture will go a long way in cushioning the negative effect on the beneficiaries in the state.

Represented at the occasion by his Principal Private Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Change, the governor called on Benue people to continue to support his administration and the Federal Government to deliver on its mandate.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA), Sir James Iorpuu, said the initiative is a testament to the unwavering commitment of both the Federal Government and the Benue State Government.

“We express our profound gratitude to the Federal Government for consistently supporting us in this humanitarian endeavour. Their commitment to ensuring that the people of Benue State are not left behind in times of need has been steadfast and unwavering”, he stated.

He also expressed gratitude to the Governor, whose leadership and dedication to the welfare of Benue citizens continue to inspire hope and resilience in Benue communities.

“As we begin the distribution in this 2nd phase, I wish to extend our apologies for the delay in sharing these much-needed palliatives. We understand the urgency of the situation, and | assure you that we have worked tirelessly to ensure that this process is as seamless and efficient as possible.”

The delay, he said, was unfortunate, but was necessary to guarantee that the items reached those who needed them most.

The BSEMA Secretary explained that in phase two, local government councils will not be part of it as they already received their palliative share in June 2024, saying to ensure smooth distribution, and have designed a sharing timetable that allocates specific days and dates to beneficiaries.

In his remarks, Commissioner for Power, Energy and Transport, Mr Omale Omale, commended Governor Alia for ensuring that Paliatives get to the needy and in a transparent manner, saying it will help the vulnerable to live a healthy life.
