June 20, (THEWILL) – Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala, Alejandro Garnacho, and Gavi have been announced as the headline names on the longlist for the prestigious Golden Boy award in 2023.
The award, presented annually by Italian outlet, Tuttosport, recognises the most outstanding player under the age of 21 competing in Europe. 2022 winner, Gavi, who is only 18 years old, remains eligible to defend his title.
The Golden Boy Index, which ranks Europe’s top 100 young players based on data, currently places Musiala in the first position, Bellingham in second place, and Gavi in third.
Musiala, a talented midfielder from Bayern Munich and Germany, had an exceptional season in 2022/2023, scoring an impressive 16 goals. His remarkable performances helped to establish him as one of the most promising young midfielders in the world.
While the Golden Boy Index provides an initial ranking, the final decision on the winner will be determined by sports journalists from major media organisations across Europe.
