July 03, (THEWILL) – The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, FTAN, has set the machinery in motion for its non-elective Annual General Meeting, AGM, in Abuja on July 30th.
Speaking during a Zoom meeting, FTAN First Deputy President and Chairman of the planning committee, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki, stated that the AGM, which is slated to be held at the Rockview Hotel Abuja, will be graced by the Botswana High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Philda Nani Kereng.
Badaki mentioned that Nani Kereng will deliver the keynote lecture on the theme of the AGM, ‘the role of the private sector in the development of the tourism industry’.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include the Minister of Tourism, Mrs Lola Ade John, Minister of Culture, Hanatu Masawa, Sports Minister, Mr John Enoand the Director-Generals of the Nigeria Tourism Development Authority, NTDA, National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOURS, ECOWAS Commissioner for Tourism, among others.
Also expected at the AGM are the Presidents of all tourism associations and private sector players in Nigeria. Badaki mentioned that the AGM will be held in a relaxed atmosphere devoid of any form of election tension or politicking.
He added that Rockview Hotel, the venue of the event, was selected based on its strategic and central location.
