France National Team Confirm Paul Pogba Injury

November 09, (THEWILL) – Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has departed the France national team camp after suffering an injury in training on Monday. Pogba was seen limping away from Monday’s practice after appearing to injure himself during a shooting drill, according to footage.

The French Football Federation announced that Pogba injured his right thigh and has been sent back to his club for further tests.

“Victim of an injury to the quadriceps of the right thigh, Paul Pogba is forced to forfeit the next two meetings of the French team, Saturday, November 13 against Kazakhstan at the Parc des Princes and Tuesday, November 16 in Helsinki against the Finland,” a Les Bleus statement read.

Didier Deschamps has called up Roma’s Jordan Veretout in his place.

Following his dismissal in the 5-0 loss to Liverpool, Pogba is serving a three-game suspension at club level, with his last omission set for November 20, immediately following the international break, against Watford.

It is unclear whether he will be fit for that, but Pogba’s plan to improve his match fitness while with Les Bleus has been crushed. Depending on the severity of the problem, he may have to sit out even longer.

Pogba is eligible to return to United for the Europa League match against Villarreal on November 23, followed by a trip to Stamford Bridge to face league leaders Chelsea five days later.

Pogba will have more tests on his thigh when he returns to Manchester on Tuesday to see if he will be able to play in those games.

Marcus Rashford has already been forced to withdraw from the England team due to injury, while left-back Luke Shaw is yet to be released to the Three Lions as United staff continue to monitor the head injury he sustained against City.
