August 01, (THEWILL) – Nottingham Forest have signed Portuguese forward, Jota Silva, from Vitoria Guimaraes on a four-year contract. The transfer fee is reported to be around €7 million, with potential add-ons of up to €6 million. Silva, who turned 25 on the day of the announcement, joins Forest after an impressive season where he scored 15 goals and provided seven assists across all competitions.
The versatile attacker can play on either wing or in a central role, offering Forest manager additional options in the final third. Silva’s journey to the English Premier League includes stints at Sousense, Espinho, and Leixoes in Portugal before his move to Vitoria in 2022. His former club, Casa Pia, is expected to receive a portion of the transfer fee due to a clause in the deal that saw Silva move to Vitoria.
Silva’s arrival at the City Ground follows a series of signings made by Nottingham Forest this summer. The club has strengthened various positions, bringing in Elliot Anderson from Newcastle for £15 million, Eric Moreira from St Pauli for £1.25 million, Carlos Miguel from Corinthians for £3 million, and Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina for £12 million. Additionally, Forest signed Marko Stamenic from Red Star Belgrade before loaning him to sister club, Olympiacos.
The Portuguese forward has already made his mark on the international stage, earning two caps for Portugal since his debut in March under manager, Roberto Martinez. His signing represents Forest’s ambition to bolster their attacking options and compete at a higher level in the EPL.
This transfer window has seen Forest actively reinforcing their squad across multiple positions. The addition of Jota Silva, along with the other new signings, demonstrates the club’s intent to build a competitive team for the 2024/2025 season and beyond.
