Yamal broke records during Spain’s Euro 2024 run. At 16 years and 338 days, he became the youngest ever to play in a Euro match, first facing Croatia. He then became the youngest to score, netting in Spain’s 2-1 win over France in the semis at 16 years and 362 days.
The teen helped Spain win Euro 2024, beating England 2-1 in the final. This win, just after Yamal turned 17, gave Spain their fourth Euro title. Flick liked Yamal’s great skills but said it was key for the youngster to stay humble, noting, “Top players keep up their good work, and he must stay grounded.”
Flick takes over at Barca at a tough time. The ex-Germany and Bayern Munich boss, who led Bayern to six trophies in 2020, must lift Barca after they won nothing in the 2023/2024 campaign. The 59-year-old shared his plans, saying he wants the team to play fun, attacking football that fans will love.
Though this project will not be easy, Flick is upbeat about Barca’s future with him in charge. He knows the club’s big past and wants to bring back their winning ways. “You can only win with the biggest clubs, that’s why I’m here,” Flick said, being careful but showing he wants to make Barca great again.
