June 27, (THEWILL) – The official roster for the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B Under-17 competition, held in Cape Coast, has been made public with no less than five Nigerians included.
As THEWILL reported, Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets finished as competition winners and automatic qualifiers for the Algeria 2023 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. The Golden Eaglets who made the official team of the competition include goalkeeper Richard Udoh, fullbacks Emmanuel Michael and Yahaya Lawal, centre-back Jeremiah Olaleke, and striker Abubakar Abdullahi.
Udoh was terrific for the majority of the contest, and the squad benefited greatly from the steadiness he provided with his composed demeanour between the sticks. Lawal performed admirably during the competition while displaying a very high technical level that belies his youth.
The tough defender Olaleke made the tournament team thanks to his composed and confident demeanour. He did not seem intimidated by the situation and is definitely one to watch for the future. Michael, a free-kick specialist who scored three goals from set pieces, including a brace in one game deserved his spot on the tournament team due to his composed performances.
Abdullahi led Nigeria to victory with three goals, two of which came in the final game of the competition. He displayed his clinical and transitional skills throughout the competition earning him his place on the squad of the competition.
