March 31, (THEWILL) – Portuguese midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, has signed a new contract with Manchester United that will see him become one of the club’s top three earners.
The paperwork to extend the midfielder’s contract until 2027 is complete, and an announcement will be made soon. Talks began in July, and two weeks ago, a breakthrough was achieved.
The 27-year-old star arrived from Sporting in January 2020 on a five-and-a-half-year deal with the option to extend for another year, so the current proposal merely adds one more season to his contract but significantly improves his income in acknowledgment of his contribution to the team.
Despite the fact that the 27-year-old’s form has not levelled up to the height of his own initial standards, United see him as a key part of their future, regardless of who replaces Ralf Rangnick as manager this summer.
On Tuesday, Fernandes scored both goals as Portugal defeated North Macedonia to qualify for the World Cup.
In preseason news, United announced on Thursday that they will play in Bangkok and Melbourne in July, taking on Liverpool in Thailand and Crystal Palace and Melbourne Victory in Australia as part of a tour as they start life under a new manager, hopefully.
