May 27, (THEWILL) – English Premier League Hall of Famer, Rio Ferdinand, has issued a warning to Manchester United regarding the potential risks associated with signing Victor Osimhen, while insisting that Harry Kane would be the ideal acquisition this summer.
Drawing upon his vast experience, Ferdinand presented compelling arguments in support of his former club prioritising a move for Kane over Osimhen. THEWILL recalls that Osimhen and Kane have emerged as strong contenders for a transfer to Old Trafford, having showcased their remarkable goal-scoring abilities with over 20 goals each in their respective leagues this season.
While Osimhen’s triumph in leading Napoli to the Scudetto ensures his place in the next season’s UEFA Champions League, Kane, as the captain of England, has missed out due to Tottenham’s late-season slump amidst managerial issues.
In a recent episode of his Five YouTube channel, Ferdinand remarked, “A number nine is the obvious area that Man Utd need to sort out; we need to get a number in the building. There are two names that keep coming up – Osimhen from Napoli and Harry Kane. Ultimately, it is down to Kane and Daniel Levy.”
Although he acknowledged Kane’s extensive EPL experience, Ferdinand was especially wary of the challenges that may arise in negotiations with Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, who has been notoriously stubborn about keeping Kane. The former Manchester United star believes that the Red Devils should exercise caution and avoid excessive spending.
