Faulty Circuit Breaker Sparks Fire At Federal Works Ministry

October 18, (THEWILL) – A spark from a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room on the ground floor of the Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja has caused a minor fire incident.

The incident which happened at about 11:30 a.m at Block A of the Ministry, was quickly contained by Fire Service.

Director of Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mohammed A. Ahmed, who confirmed the incident, said no loss of document, injuries or casualties was recorded.

“A minor fire incident occurred at 11:30 am at Block A of the Ministry. The incident was a result of a spark from a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room on the ground floor.

“The Station Commander, Federal Fire Service, Federal Ministry of Works, Headquarters, Mr Kekai Bekebi, informed me that there was a quick response from his team, who were able to put the situation under control by deploying available fire extinguishers. He added that a successful evacuation exercise of staff was also carried out.

“The Director, Human Resource Management, Mr Aliyu Abdullahi stated that no loss of document, no injuries, and no casualties were recorded, as he further commended the staff for their general conduct while the incident lasted”, he said.
