March 17, (THEWILL)- The draw for the 2023/2024 FA Cup semi-finals has taken place, setting up two mouthwatering ties at Wembley Stadium. Manchester United will face an unlikely opponent in Coventry City, while holders Manchester City take on Chelsea.
United booked their place with a dramatic comeback victory over Liverpool after extra time, with Amad Diallo netting a 121st-minute winner. Coventry City secured an equally late win against Wolverhampton Wanderers to make the semis for the first time since their 1987 triumph.
Chelsea avoided an upset by coming from behind to beat Championship side Leicester City 4-2 at Stamford Bridge. Manchester City had a relatively comfortable 2-0 victory over Newcastle United to progress.
The first semi-final will pit Coventry against United, in what could be a classic underdog story. The second semi will be an all-English Premier League affair as Manchester City face Chelsea in a repeat of 2023’s final.
Both matches are scheduled to take place at Wembley on the weekend of April 20/21 as the famous old competition heads towards its climax.
