July 01, (THEWILL) – An explosion has occurred at the Zungeru Hydro Electricity Dam in Niger State, leaving several workers injured.
The explosion, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, was said to have affected some of the installations in the dam.
While the actual number of casualties is unknown, eyewitnesses said several workers, including one of the foreign engineers, were seriously injured and rushed to the Minna General Hospital.
The engineer, believed to be a Chinese national, was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital for treatment for burns on the head and hand.
Although there has been no official confirmation of the incident, the explosion has resulted in a power outage in Minna.
