August 10, (THEWILL) – West Ham United have reached an agreement to sign Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The 26-year-old defender, who is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, is set to undergo a medical with West Ham on Sunday, before finalising his move to the London Stadium.
The transfer of Wan-Bissaka has paved the way for Manchester United to bring in Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui. United have already accepted a £17.2 million bid for the Moroccan right-back, who is expected to join the club once Wan-Bissaka’s departure is confirmed. This move is part of a larger deal that also includes United signing centre-back Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich for £42.9 million.
West Ham’s acquisition of Wan-Bissaka marks their eighth signing of the 2024 summer transfer window. The Hammers have been active in the market, recently confirming the arrival of centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice. Other notable signings include Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Luis Guilherme, Guido Rodriguez, and Wes Foderingham.
For Manchester United, the departure of Wan-Bissaka and the incoming Mazraoui will help address their defensive issues. The club is currently dealing with injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, leaving them short of options at full-back. Mazraoui’s versatility, being able to play on both sides of defence, will provide much-needed cover for manager Erik ten Hag.
The transfer activity at both clubs demonstrates their ambitions for the 2024/2025 season. West Ham continue to strengthen their squad with experienced players, while Manchester United are reshaping their defence under Ten Hag’s guidance. The completion of these transfers is expected to have a significant impact on both teams’ prospects for the upcoming campaign.
