October 07, (THEWILL) – Two-time African champions Enyimba will meet Egyptian teams Zamalek and Al Masry in Group D of the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup, following Monday’s draw at CAF headquarters in Cairo.
Mozambique’s Black Bulls complete the quartet in what promises to be a competitive group. The Nigerian side’s campaign begins in late November, with six matchdays scheduled until January 19, 2025. The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarter-finals, where the competition moves into its knockout phase.
In other groups, Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane headline Group B alongside Mali’s Stade Malien, South African newcomers Stellenbosch, and Angola’s CD Lunda Sul. Group C features Algeria’s USM Alger, ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast, Senegal’s Jaraaf, and Botswana’s Orapa United.
Group A will see Tanzania’s Simba compete with Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien, Algeria’s CS Constantine, and Angola’s Bravos Maquis. The tournament offers Enyimba a chance to add to their continental trophy collection, having previously won the Champions League in 2003 and 2004.
Current Confederation Cup holders Zamalek will present the sternest test for Enyimba, with the all-Egyptian clash against Al Masry adding extra intrigue to the group’s dynamics. The first round of matches kicks off on November 28.
