BEVERLY HILLS, January 26, (THEWILL) – The Kogi East Coordinators of the Yahaya Bello Campaign Organisation has denied nominating Mr Gowon Egbunu as replacement for Mr James Faleke as the Deputy Governor of the state ahead of today’s inauguration.
Speaking at a news conference in Lokoja on Tuesday, the campaign coordinators declared that their purported endorsement of Egbunu as reported by a section of the media was a fraud, stressing that their signatures were forged.
Their spokesman, Mr Paul Enema asserted that he and his colleagues did not hold any meeting to nominate Egbunu, let alone issuing a communiqué to the media to that effect.
“Gowon Egbunu is strange to us. We don’t know him, we did not hold any meeting talk less of issuing a statement to the press,” Enema asserted.
While noting that the issue of who becomes Bello’s deputy is beyond the coordinators, he stressed that “It is only the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress that can handle it.’’
