EFCC Accuses Jonathan’s Cousin Of Receiving $40m From Dasuki

BEVERLY HILLS, May 04, (THEWILL) – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has disclosed that the cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Aziboala Roberts, who is presently in its custody, received $40million from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

According to a statement issued by the anti-graft agency, its counsel, F.A. Jirbo stated that Roberts received the money in September 2014 for the purpose of supplying “tactical communication kits”.

He added that the mandate form from Dasuki revealed that the money was transferred from the Citibank N.A. Canada Square Canary, Canada, into the bank account of Robert’s company, Oneplus Holdings Ltd.

The commission noted that Roberts’ bank statement of account also shows that another N650 million was on December 8, 2014 wired to the accused person’s account by Dasuki.

It added that the second suspect, Dakoru Atukpa, who is the Executive Director, Projects, at Oneplus, claimed to have used the funds for demobilization of pipeline vandals, peace-building initiatives and easing of oil production through the NNPC LNG projects in Olokola and Brass in 2014.

Meanwhile, counsel to the applicant, Mr. Chris Uche SAN contended that the failure of the commission to release his clients from detention is “a blatant disrespect and disobedience of the court’s order”.
