Ebonyi, Cross River Youths Beg FG To Construct Ojon Ukwu-Mango Federal Road

September 18, (THEWILL) – The President-General of Cross River and Ebonyi Youth Peace Development Movement (CREBYPDM), Barr. Paschal Nwenyi, has called on the Federal Government to construct the Ojon Ukwu-Mango Ogurude Federal Road.

Nwenyi made the call on Saturday, in Abakaliki while briefing journalists on the activities marking the 5th anniversary of the ceasefire by youths of both States.

THEWILL learned that the road, which is presently not motorable, has not received Government attention since the creation of both States.

He explained that the poor condition of the road, which links the people of Ugurude in the Obubura Local Government Area of Cross River State and their sister communities in Abakiliki and Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has made it difficult for indigenes of both States to transport their agricultural produces to nearby markets.

“The Ojon Ukwu-Mango Ogurude Federal Road connects the people of Ebonyi State in Abakaliki and Ikwo to other neighbouring communities such as Ugurude in Obubura Local Government Area.

“Therefore, the road is very important to the two sister States to ease the transportation of agricultural produce.

“So, having known the importance of the road, we, therefore, appeal to the Federal Government to construct the Ojon Ukwu-Mango Ogurude Federal Road.

“The road is not motorable and has denied the people in that area access to transporting their agricultural produce to a nearby market, essentially rice and yam,” he explained.

CREBYPDM President further tasked the youths from both States to remain resolute towards the achieved peace.
