October 14, (THEWILL) – Singer and former MAVIN signee, Sidney Esiri aka Dr Sid has abandoned his music career and relocated to the United States to embrace a new life.
“I’m in Houston, Texas. It happened last year. I got a job with a company out of New York, and they offered me the opportunity to move to the states and work remotely in any state of my choosing. I have a family in Houston, my best friend lives here so Houston Texas was an easy choice. I have been working on gaming and tournaments and game development and education training for the last year and half,” he said.
Dr Sid, whose father was the late actor Justus Esiri, known for his role in the village headmaster, a Nigerian sitcom popular in the 1980s. is a graduate of Dentistry and Dental surgeon from the University of Ibadan. The 44-year-old divorced father of two began his music career when he signed on to a fresh new record label Trybe Records as a choreographer. He would spend the next three years touring as a backup dancer for the Trybesmen. After qualifying as a dentist, he moved to the United Kingdom working with the likes of Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC & the 419 squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70, D’prince, Dapo Oyebanjo aka D’Banj. He returned to Nigeria and signed on to Don Jazzy’s Mo’ Hits Records and later MAVIN Records from where he slowly fizzled out of the entertainment industry.
