September 03, (THEWILL) – Gianluca Scamacca scored twice on his first Atalanta start, to help the Bergamo side claim a comfortable 3-0 Serie A victory over Monza on Saturday.
Atalanta went ahead in the first half when Ederson converted from close range after Teun Koopmeiners’ corner caused chaos in the Monza box. Scamacca then rose highest to head home a cross from Davide Ruggeri to double Atalanta’s advantage before the break.
The Italian striker grabbed his second shortly after the hour mark, taking a touch on the edge of the area before firing a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner. Scamacca thought he had completed a hat-trick soon after but was denied by the offside flag.
