August 01, (THEWILL) – Borussia Dortmund have signed German midfielder, Pascal Gross, from Brighton and Hove Albion on a two-year contract. The Bundesliga club reportedly paid up to €10 million for the 33-year-old, who spent seven years with Brighton in the English Premier League.
Gross, a lifelong Dortmund supporter, expressed his excitement about joining the team. Dortmund director, Lars Ricken, praised Gross’s abilities, stating he would bring “solidity and flexibility” to the squad.
During his time at Brighton, Gross made 228 EPL appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing 45 assists. He played a key role in Brighton’s sixth-place finish in the 2022/2023 season, helping the club qualify for European competition for the first time.
The midfielder received his first Germany call-up at 32 years old and was part of the national team squad for Euro 2024. He has earned eight caps and scored one goal at international level.
Dortmund’s signing of Gross follows a disappointing 2023/2024 domestic season, where they finished fifth in the Bundesliga despite reaching the UEFA Champions League final. The club has also acquired striker Serhou Guirassy and defender Waldemar Anton from Stuttgart this summer.
