August 02, (THEWILL) – Novak Djokovic of Serbia has made it to his first Olympic tennis final at the age of 37. He defeated Lorenzo Musetti of Italy 6-4 6-2 in Friday’s semi-final match on Court Philippe Chatrier.

The victory sets up a gold medal clash with Spain’s 21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz. The match against 22-year-old Musetti was of high quality, with Djokovic facing some challenges. Despite showing signs of frustration at times, the top-seeded player held firm during key moments to advance to the final.

This Olympic final appearance marks a significant milestone for Djokovic, who had previously lost three Olympic singles semi-finals. An Olympic gold medal remains the only major achievement missing from his impressive career, which includes 24 Grand Slam titles.

While Djokovic and Alcaraz will compete for gold on Sunday, 11th seed Musetti will face Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada in the bronze medal match.

The 2024 Paris Olympics tennis tournament has brought together top players from around the world, with Djokovic now one step away from adding an Olympic gold to his long list of tennis accomplishments.
