Diri Orders Relocation Of Motor Parks In Bayelsa Metropolis

February 11, (THEWILL) – With the recent commissioning of the Bayelsa State transport terminal, Governor Douye Diri has ordered all road transporters to immediately relocate to the Igbogene car park.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the transport terminal as part of activities marking his third anniversary, he stated that no commercial vehicle will henceforth go beyond the bus terminal at Igbogene.

Diri disclosed that vehicles have been made available to convey passengers from the terminal to different parts of the State.

He said, “Now, to all of our transporters, who are coming in from other States, who have transport terminals littered across our State, today marks the end of it.

“All transporters will terminate at this point. The State Government has already procured vehicles that will take commuters from here to their destinations inside Yenagoa.

“Public funds have been put in here by my immediate past predecessor, if and when I came in here, I abandoned this project, all those funds would have been wasted.”

Speaking earlier, the former Governor of the State, Henry Seriake Dickson, stated that Bayelsans, for the first time, are seeing continuity in a very special way and transfer of batton, adding that “You will see continuity in several years.

“This is an ultra-modern transport terminal. There is no facility you want to see here that is not here like an airport. With this now and with the performing Governor, we have to call for the deep sea port

“Bayelsans, continuity is not a bad thing in terms of projects and policies while also doing your own. It is a good thing that you are finishing up while also doing your own.

“I want to thank you for being bold to protect the policies and complete projects at different stages.

“I want to assure you that I and all well-meaning Bayelsans will support your aspirations to continue to push the frontiers of development in the state.”

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Moses Teibowei, however, explained the facilities contained at the terminal, maintaining that it has both front and back exit.
