October 10, (THEWILL) – In Monday night football in the English Premier League, Aston Villa trailed Nottingham Forest until a long-range goal from Ashley Young, which was enough to earn the visitors a point at the final whistle.

While Steven Gerrard’s Villa were aiming for their third league victory of the year, bottom-of-the-table Forest had just given manager Steve Cooper a new contract and were desperate to get themselves out of the red line zone of the bottom of the table.

Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis gave Forest the lead by nodding in Morgan Gibbs-free White’s kick, but an incisive 22nd-minute strike from veteran Young cancelled out the advantage as the scores were tied 1-1 at the break.

When Watkins slid in to finish off Jacob Ramsey’s cross, Villa briefly believed they had taken the lead. However, the goal was disallowed for offside.

After a fun first half, the game fizzled out in the second period. It did nothing to dampen the passion of the Forest supporters, who cheered their team on. Yet, neither team was able to score any more goals. The draw moved Forest above Leicester but still very much in relegation danger, while Villa sit in sixteenth place.
