September 21, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain’s perfect start to the Ligue 1 season ended with a 1-1 draw against Stade de Reims at the Stade Auguste-Delaune.

The result halted PSG’s eight-match winning streak across all competitions but extended their unbeaten away run in the league to 27 matches, dating back to February 2023.

Reims took an early lead in the ninth minute when Keito Nakamura capitalised on Marquinhos’ failure to clear Junya Itō’s cross, scoring from close range. PSG dominated possession but struggled to break down a determined Reims defence. Yehvann Diouf made an important save to deny Kang-in Lee, while Désiré Doué’s skilful play created chances for the visitors.

The second half saw PSG continue to press for an equaliser. Bradley Barcola missed an opportunity to level the score, heading over the bar from Lee’s cross. Emmanuel Agbadou nearly doubled Reims’ lead with a powerful long-range effort that narrowly missed the target. PSG finally found the breakthrough in the 69th minute when substitute Ousmane Dembele converted a cross from João Neves at the far post.

Both teams had chances to win the match in the closing stages. Dembele came close with a header from another Neves cross, while Nhoa Sangui squandered a golden opportunity for Reims in stoppage time, firing over the bar after a swift counter-attack. The match ended in a draw, with both sides settling for a point.

The result leaves PSG still top of Ligue 1, but their lead has been reduced. Luis Enrique’s team will look to bounce back in their next fixture, while Reims will take confidence from their performance against the defending champions. The draw shows that PSG, despite their strong start to the season, can be challenged by a determined opposition.
