July 26, (THEWILL) – The management of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd has debunked reports that it is selling-off the crude oil it has received at the plant, confirming THEWILL’s Exclusive report.
While a news agency report had claimed the Dangote Refinery is looking for buyers for its crude stock, THEWILL had exclusively reported that the multi-billion dollars Refinery is not selling-off the crude oil it has received at the plant and remains on course to produce petrol this August as previously scheduled.
Confirming THEWILL’s report in a statement issued on Friday night, by Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief, Branding, and Communication Officer, Dangote, described the agency report as outright falsehood, adding that the refinery is not authorised to sell crude oil purchased from Nigeria.
It further clarified that the Refinery’s Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) is in perfect condition.
The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report suggesting that our refinery’s crude distillation unit (CDU) is experiencing issues and that we are reselling crude oil.
“We categorically deny these claims. The Dangote refinery is not authorised to sell crude oil purchased from Nigeria, and our CDU is fully operational and functioning optimally.
“We advise the public to disregard these false narratives, which are likely driven by interests opposed to the local refining of fuels.”
