August 20, (THEWILL) – Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has been ordered by the Court of Appeal to appear in court to answer fraud charges.

The court also barred him from further legal manoeuvres until he faces the charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The appellate court gave the order while ruling on an appeal filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against the judgement of Justice Isah Abdullahi Jamil of the lower court which restrained the commission from arresting Bello.

In the ruling delivered by Justice Ken Amadi, the court described as scandalous, the lower court’s ruling which held that the purpose of the case was to shield Bello from his criminal trial.

Former governor Bello, who is facing a 19-count charge of money laundering alongside three other suspects – Ali Bello, Dauda Suleiman, and Abdulsalam Hudu, has evaded arrest and physical presence in court to face his charges
