SAN FRANCISCO, August 28, (THEWILL) – London club, Chelsea FC, has confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender and PSG captain, Thiago Silva on a one-year contract.
The London club had earlier this week signed Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr in a push to strengthen its defence. It also signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Thiago, a former AC Milan defender, signed his contract after a successful medical on Thursday.
Speaking on his move to Chelsea, Silva said: “I am so happy to be joining Chelsea.
“I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours.
“See you soon Chelsea fans, I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge very soon.”
THEWILL reports that though the 35-year-old defender signed a one-year deal with Chelsea, there is however an option to extend the deal.
