August 23, (THEWILL) – Chelsea claimed a 2-0 victory against Swiss team, Servette, in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off on Thursday evening. The match, held at Stamford Bridge, saw Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, field a rotated squad from the one that played against Manchester City.

The game remained goalless at half-time, with Chelsea struggling to break down Servette’s defence. However, the deadlock was broken five minutes into the second half when Christopher Nkunku converted a penalty kick. Noni Madueke extended Chelsea’s lead in the 76th minute, finishing off a well-crafted pass from Enzo Fernandez.

This victory marks Maresca’s first win since taking charge of Chelsea. The Italian manager, who joined from Leicester City, will be pleased with his team’s performance and the two-goal advantage they take into the second leg.

The return fixture is scheduled for August 29th in Geneva, Switzerland. Chelsea will be looking to maintain their lead and progress to the main draw of the Europa Conference League.
