April 10, (THEWILL) – Commonwealth Games Nigeria (CGN) is set to organise a grassroots programme in secondary schools located in Lagos to promote sports and education among students.
The initiative aims to educate young people about the importance of sports and education for their personal growth and development, according to Tony Nezianya, the public relations officer for the Nigerian Olympic Committee.
Speaking about the objectives of the programme, Nezianya said: “It will also promote social interaction among the students, which will avail them the opportunity to meet other students and engage in healthy competition.” The programme is expected to take place in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos, specifically at the Olympafrica Centre and the Olympic Village.
At least 12 schools will be participating in the event, with six students and a “games master” from each school. The programme will feature volleyball and netball games, with CGN awarding prizes to the top three players in each category. All participants will receive certificates of participation, and the programme promises to be a vibrant and entertaining experience that highlights Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
