May 03, (THEWILL) – The English Premier League Hall of Fame has announced that Petr Cech, former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper, will be inducted into the 2023 class.
Cech joins a distinguished list of inductees, including legendary managers, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, and fellow player inductees, Rio Ferdinand and another to be announced soon. Fans voted for Cech to join the Hall of Fame from a shortlist of 15 iconic footballers.
During his tenure at Chelsea, Cech won four English Premier League titles and holds the record for the most clean sheets in the league’s history. Cech played his last four seasons at Arsenal and retired in 2019. He won the FA Cup in his final season in 2017.
Cech’s induction into the Hall of Fame cements his place as one of the league’s greatest goalkeepers. Reflecting on his induction, Cech said, “It’s an honour for me to be voted into the Hall of Fame in the best league in the world. That’s really a special recognition and leaves a legacy. I’m proud that fans voted for me and appreciated the way I performed over the years.”
Cech also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play in the EPL and recognised the efforts and sacrifices it took for him to achieve his childhood dream of playing at the highest level.
