August 19, (THEWILL) – Manchester United midfielder, Casemiro, is set to remain at Old Trafford despite transfer speculation linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Reports suggest that “big changes” at Al Ittihad prevented a potential transfer from materialising. The Brazilian midfielder faced injury issues and a dip in form during the previous season, leading to rumours of a possible departure.
However, Casemiro has started the 2024/2025 campaign in Erik ten Hag’s preferred starting lineup, with the United manager stating there is no “signal” of an imminent exit. He was initially considered “available” for transfer, but negotiations with Al Ittihad fell through due to changes in the club’s leadership.
The resignation of Al Ittihad’s president reportedly halted several potential deals, including approaches for Rennes defender Arthur Theate and former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli.
Al Ittihad, the 2022/2023 Saudi Pro League champions, currently boast a roster including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Fabinho, and Houssem Aouar. Kante has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona, who are seeking midfield reinforcements due to injuries.
