Casemiro Injury Rules Midfielder Out Of Sheffield United Clash

October 19, (THEWILL) – Manchester United will be without key midfielder, Casemiro, for their English Premier League clash against Sheffield United on Saturday. The Brazilian picked up an injury while on international duty with his country.

Casemiro was forced off late in Brazil’s match against Venezuela and subsequently missed training last Saturday. Although he returned to start in the 2-0 defeat to Uruguay, the injury has ruled him out of United’s Saturday trip to Bramall Lane.

The club has confirmed that the former Real Madrid player will remain in Brazil for treatment on what they describe as a “small issue.” His absence means he will also likely miss the Manchester derby against City at the end of the month.

In Casemiro’s absence, Scott McTominay may be rewarded with a start after his late heroics earned United a dramatic 2-1 win over Brentford last time out. The Scotsman came in as a very late substitute and bagged two goals to seal the three points.

United are already missing several key players through injury. Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are all sidelined. Jadon Sancho also remains exiled after his public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.
