Capito Resigns As CEO Of F1 Racing Team Williams

December 12, (THEWILL) – After serving as CEO and team principal of Williams for two years, Jost Capito is resigning from the position.

THEWILL recalls that in December 2020, the 64-year-old joined Williams and remained in his position since. He is now leaving with technical director Francois-Xavier Demaison. With only eight points, Williams placed last in the 2022 Formula 1 constructors’ standings, 27 points behind closest competitors AlphaTauri.

In a statement, Capito stated: “It has been a huge privilege to lead Williams Racing for the last two seasons and to lay the foundations for the turnaround of this great team. I look forward to watching the team as it continues on its path to future success.”

Dorilton Capital acquired Williams in the summer of 2020, and they placed ninth in the constructors’ championship the following year. This season, Nicholas Latifi and Alex Albon drove for Williams. In 2023, Logan Sargent, an American, will take over for Latifi.

Matthew Savage, the chairman of Dorilton Capital, added: “We would like to thank Jost for his hard work and dedication as we embarked on a major transformation process to begin the journey of reviving Williams Racing. We would also like to thank FX for his contribution and wish him all the best for his future as he moves on.”
