January 31, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich have signed Portuguese international full-back, Joao Cancelo, on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.
Cancelo become a regular for City and was praised for his versatility as a hybrid midfielder. However, he recently fell out with manager Pep Guardiola and has been quickly moved to Bayern for the rest of the season.
The loan deal reportedly has a purchase option for €70m. Cancelo is eager to embark on his new adventure at Bayern and show his footballing qualities. He is driven by the hunger for success and is aware that Bayern is a club that lives for titles and wins them every year.
Bayern have had injury issues at full-back this season with Noussair Mazraoui, Alphonso Davies, and Benjamin Pavard all struggling. Pavard is also rumoured to be of interest to Barcelona in the summer.
Despite being top of the Bundesliga table, they are only one point ahead of Union Berlin and two ahead of RB Leipzig.
