JUne 26, (THEWILL) – Local divers around the Calabar Channel have recovered three bodies of the medical students who drowned in the channel on Saturday.
The bodies comprise two males and one female and were handed over to the Cross River State Police Command.
The recovered bodies were part of the fourteen medical students, who drowned in the channel on Saturday. Their identities have yet to be released by the authorities.
Eleven others survived the accident and are recuperating at the emergency section of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital.
The medical students were among those who visited the state for the 2023 Nigeria Medical Students Games.
Meanwhile, the State Governor, Bassey Otu, has banned ferry activities in the channel and has summoned operators to a meeting with the Secretary to the State Government.
