“No, he hasn’t shelved his trip to London. The plan is still there. He finished his business in Kenya and made an early return. The trip to London is Sunday,” Shehu had explained.

According to Sunday Aghaeze, the president’s photographer, Buhari left for London on Sunday morning.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said President Buhari is expected to be away for maximum of two weeks.

The president, who spoke to newsmen at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport Abuja, said in his absence, governmental functions will continue with the vice president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo at the helm of affairs.

“Well, I cannot claim to be doing the work alone. The government is fully represented. The vice president is there, constitutionally when I’m away, he’s in charge.

“And the Secretary to the government and then the Chief of Staff so, have no problem,” he said.

Commenting on the forth coming national convention of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), the president assured that it will be a successful exercise.

“Well, they should wait and see. How did we come as a party to take power from the ruling party who had been there before us for so many years? So we have the capacity, everything will be alright,” he assured.
