June 16, (THEWILL) – Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club has officially announced the acquisition of German midfielder, Mahmoud Dahoud from Borussia Dortmund.
The 27-year-old player has agreed to a four-year contract, effective from July 1, after his previous deal with the Bundesliga club expired. Born in Syria, Dahoud earned two international caps for Germany in 2020. His signing marks the third addition to the English Premier League side’s roster this summer, following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and James Milner.
Seagulls’ head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, expressed his enthusiasm about Dahoud’s inclusion: “I have been eager to have Mahmoud on my team since my time at Sassuolo, and I am confident that he will be a top player for us.”
Dahoud began his professional career at Borussia Monchengladbach before transferring to Dortmund in 2017. He made a total of 141 appearances for the Bundesliga runners-up this season, although his playing time was hampered due to shoulder surgery last summer. Brighton’s technical director, David Weir, was delighted at the new signing, noting that Dahoud’s quality and experience at a high level in Germany and Europe will significantly enhance the team’s options.
