October 30, (THEWILL) –Â At Anfield on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp looked on in consternation as Liverpool gave up a 2-0 lead that allowed Brighton come back hard to secure a well-deserved point.
The hosts started the game with a spring in their step, as they have done so far this season. Jordan Henderson put the Reds ahead after only three minutes, meeting Mohamed Salah’s pull-back and burying the ball into the far corner.
Soon after, Yves Bissouma, who was making his first Premier League appearance since September 19, hit the post with a long-range effort.

But, Liverpool doubled their lead in the 23rd minute. Sadio Mane smashed his header past Robert Sanchez after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who came in for the injured Naby Keita, curved an inviting cross in for him.
Enock Mwepu curled an audacious 25-yarder over Alisson after Adam Lallana had teed him up five minutes before the break to cut the deficit to one.
An expected Liverpool second-half onslaught did not materialise as the Reds appeared to be out of sorts throughout after the interval.
Before the visitors were able to get back on equal terms, Adam Lallana kept Alisson on notice. Just after the hour mark, Lallana supplied Leandro Trossard, who held his calm to sneak past Liverpool’s number one.
In the closing minutes, Liverpool pushed forward desperately to get the winner, but they were unable to find another goal, much to the disappointment of the Anfield crowd.
The visitors’ point keeps them in sixth place as they prepare to face struggling Newcastle in their next fixture. Meanwhile, the hosts maintain their position in second place, but lose ground to leaders Chelsea as the deficit widens to three points. In their next league match, they will travel to West Ham United.
